How it works
URBAN & INDUSTRIAL
HARVESTING As a result of the high coffee consumption worldwide, an estimated 15 Mio tons of spent coffee grounds ("SCG") are produced every year. Most of the SCG are disposed of through incineration, a disposal method that contributes to the emission of CO2. Using industrial and urban harvesting methods, ecobrain collects this valuable and versatile raw waste material that is suitable for the upcycling and production of many products of endlos design.

UPCYCLING
The upcycling of biological waste materials such as spent coffee grounds (“SCG”) contributes to the storage of CO2 that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. ecobrain has developed groundbreaking composites that enable the upcycling of biological waste materials such as spent coffee grounds into new sustainable products that are recyclable. If implemented and utilized in the furniture, interior design, and construction industries, among others, the use of ecobrain’s composites could potentially store >> 100 Mio tons of CO2 and therefore contribute significantly to building a circular economy. In addition to ecobrain’s groundbreaking technology regarding the upcycling of waste materials, all products that are produced in conjunction therewith are bonded with adhesives without added formaldehyde further contributing to a toxic-reduced environment and better indoor air quality.

CONTRIBUTION TO A CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Products manufactured with ecobrain’s patented technology contribute to a circular economy. Waste materials that would otherwise be disposed of in landfills or through disposal methods such as incineration, among others, are upcycled. Not only is waste prevented and resources are kept in the economy for a prolonged period of time, for the climate harmful CO2 emissions are reduced through storage of CO2 in the upcycled products.
